💵 Annual Operating Cost Comparison

Energy Rate Used: $0.1778 per kWh (US national average residential rate, EIA data, February 2026)

✅ IntelliFlo VS+SVRS Variable Speed (Optimized Operation)

Running at low speed (1500 RPM, ~250W average) for filtration:

• Daily runtime: 10 hours
• Annual hours: 3,650 hours
• Power: 0.25 kW × 3,650 hours = 912.5 kWh/year
• ✅ Annual cost: $162.24

❌ Traditional Single-Speed Pump (1.5 HP)

Running at full speed (~1,500W) for filtration:

• Daily runtime: 8 hours
• Annual hours: 2,920 hours
• Power: 1.5 kW × 2,920 hours = 4,380 kWh/year
• ❌ Annual cost: $778.76

💰 Your Annual Savings: $616.52

📈 10-Year Savings: $6,165+

⚡ The Physics Behind Variable Speed Savings

The Affinity Laws explain why variable speed pumps save so much energy:

Reducing pump speed by 50% reduces power consumption by 87.5%

This means running your IntelliFlo at 1500 RPM instead of 3000 RPM uses only 1/8th the electricity – while still providing excellent filtration for most residential pools.

🎯 Real World Examples & Applications

🏊‍♂️ Residential In-Ground Pools

The IntelliFlo VS+SVRS is ideal for pools of all sizes. For a typical 20,000-gallon pool, running at 1500 RPM provides approximately 50 GPM flow – enough for complete water turnover in under 7 hours while consuming only about 250 watts.

♨️ Pool & Spa Combinations

Program different speeds for pool filtration and spa operation. Set Speed 1 for daily filtration at minimal cost, then let automation switch to Speed 4 when the spa jets are activated – delivering the high flow spa users expect.

🌊 Water Features & Fountains

Water features like waterfalls, deck jets, and fountains require higher flow rates. The IntelliFlo VS+SVRS lets you program a dedicated speed for water features, activating only when needed and returning to efficient low-speed filtration automatically.

🔄 Replacement & Upgrade Projects

Upgrading from a single-speed pump? The IntelliFlo VS+SVRS uses standard 2″ plumbing connections, making it compatible with most existing in-ground pool plumbing. Many homeowners see a return on investment within 1-2 years through energy savings alone.

🏢 Pool Service Professionals

The password-protected settings prevent homeowners from inadvertently changing optimized configurations. The built-in diagnostics and alarm system alert you to potential issues before they become costly repairs.
