Sundance Jacuzzi 6000-125RK Grundfos Circulation Pump Kit — 230V 3/4″ Barb OEM Replacement

🔧 Sundance Jacuzzi 6000-125RK Grundfos Circulation Pump Kit — 230V 3/4″ Barb OEM Replacement

Factory OEM 230V replacement kit — retrofits all legacy Laing circulation pumps in dedicated 230V Sundance and Jacuzzi spas

📋 Product Overview

The Sundance Jacuzzi 6000-125RK is the factory OEM 230V circulation pump replacement kit featuring a Grundfos-based circulation pump for dedicated 230V Sundance and Jacuzzi spa models. This is a complete retrofit kit — pump plus all adapters, clamps, hose, wire, and fittings needed to replace legacy Laing low-flow circulation pumps without sourcing additional parts.

This new-generation Grundfos design replaces the older Laing E10 and SM-909 series circulation pumps that were standard in 230V Sundance and Jacuzzi spas from the late 1990s onward. The Grundfos pump offers higher flow rates for improved water filtration and is less prone to flow errors than the older Laing designs, which tended to overheat when filters became dirty or clogged. The pump features adjustable output and power cable angles for flexible mounting, even if installation differs from the original pump location.

The 230V version covers the majority of Sundance and Jacuzzi spas — most models in the 680, 780, 800, and 850 Series, plus all 230V Jacuzzi J-300 and J-400 LED Series models. This is the higher-volume version compared to the 115V kit (6000-314), because most North American Sundance and Jacuzzi spas are wired for dedicated 230V operation.

⚠️ CRITICAL — VOLTAGE CHECK REQUIRED: This is a 230V/240V pump for dedicated 230V spas ONLY. It does NOT work on 120/240V convertible models, regardless of how the hot tub is currently wired. If your spa is a convertible model (can switch between 120V and 240V), you need the 6000-314 (115V kit) instead. Always check the nameplate on your existing circulation pump before ordering.

⚠️ WIRE COLOR WARNING: Sundance and Jacuzzi use white/black/green wires for BOTH 115V and 230V pumps. Wire color does NOT indicate voltage. On a 230V pump, the white and black wires are both hot leads and the green is ground.

🔗 Compatibility Guide

⚠️ VOLTAGE DECISION — READ THIS FIRST

Your Spa Type	Correct Part Number
Dedicated 230V / 240V	6000-125RK ← This Kit
120/240V Convertible	6000-314 (115V Kit) — even if currently wired for 240V
115V / 120V only	6000-314 (115V Kit)

How to check: Look at the nameplate on your existing circulation pump. If it says 230V or 240V AND your spa is a dedicated (non-convertible) 230V model, use the 6000-125RK. If your spa is a convertible model — meaning it CAN run on either 120V or 240V — use the 6000-314, regardless of what voltage it’s currently wired for.

🛠️ Installation Guide

Before You Begin

1. Verify voltage — Check the nameplate on your existing circulation pump. Confirm 230V/240V.
2. Verify spa type — Confirm your spa is a dedicated 230V model, NOT a 120/240V convertible.
3. Disconnect power — Turn off the spa at the main breaker. Lock out / tag out.
4. Gather tools — Screwdrivers, pliers, crimping tool (for spade lugs), heat gun (optional, for softening hose), towels for residual water.

Installation Steps

1. Open the equipment panel on the side of the spa where the electronics are located
2. Open the control box and locate the circ pump wires — typically on the lower right side of the circuit board (black, white, green)
3. Disconnect the old pump wiring from the circuit board
4. Clamp the circulation flex lines with pliers to prevent water loss during the exchange
5. Remove the old pump — disconnect hose clamps, remove mounting screws
6. Mount the new Grundfos pump using the included #6 screws — the pump may need to be installed in a different location than the original (this is normal)
7. Rotate the wet end if needed — remove the four screws behind the front volute to reposition to 12:00, 3:00, 6:00, or 9:00
8. Connect 3/4″ clear PVC hose from spa plumbing to pump barbs using included 27mm clamps
9. Use the barb adapter and PVC elbow as needed for routing
10. Connect wiring — White (hot) and Black (hot) to the circuit board terminals, Green to ground. Use the included 36″ of #6 copper wire as needed
11. Prime the pump — Release hose clamps, ensure water fills the hose and pump before powering on
12. Restore power and verify circulation pump starts and water flows

Important Installation Notes

⚠️ The pump may need to be installed in a different location than the original Laing pump due to design differences. The included hose, adapters, and elbow accommodate this.

⚠️ White and Black are BOTH hot leads on this 230V pump. Green is ground. Do NOT connect as if it were a standard 115V circuit.

⚠️ Never run the pump dry. Ensure the pump is filled with water before powering on.

⚠️ Use the connector from the old circulation pump if needed for circuit board connection, as the new pump may not include the same connector.

🔧 Maintenance Guide

Routine Maintenance:

Task	Frequency	Notes
Check for leaks	Monthly	Around barb connections and clamps
Inspect hose	Monthly	Look for kinks, cracks, or discoloration
Verify circulation flow	Monthly	Confirm water is flowing when pump is active
Clean spa filters	Per manufacturer schedule	Dirty filters cause flow errors and pump overheating
Check clamps	Quarterly	Tighten 27mm clamps if loosened
Inspect wiring	Annually	Check for corrosion or loose connections

Warning Signs — Replace Pump If:

• No water flow when pump is running
• Motor hums but doesn’t circulate water
• Water leaking from pump body or connections
• Unusual grinding or vibration
• Spa displays flow error code (FLO, FL, or similar)
• Motor overheating or cycling on/off repeatedly

💡 TIP: The Grundfos design is less prone to overheating from dirty filters than the legacy Laing pumps. However, regular filter maintenance is still essential for pump longevity.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this a complete kit or just the pump? A: Complete kit. Includes the Grundfos 230V pump, two 27mm clamps, two #6 screws, a 3/4″ barb × barb adapter, a PVC elbow, 36″ of #6 copper wire, and 36″ of 3/4″ clear PVC hose.

Q: My spa is 240V but convertible — can I use this? A: No. If your spa is a 120/240V convertible model, use the 6000-314 (115V) kit regardless of how it’s currently wired. The 6000-125RK is for dedicated 230V-only models.

Q: How do I know if my spa is dedicated 230V or convertible? A: Check your spa’s nameplate or owner’s manual. Convertible models are typically listed as “120/240V” or “115/230V.” If it only says “230V” or “240V,” it’s dedicated. When in doubt, check the nameplate on the existing circulation pump.

Q: What if the pump doesn’t fit in the same spot as my old Laing? A: This is expected and common. The Grundfos has a different form factor. One customer review describes relocating it to the right of the main panel with the included hose and fittings — install was straightforward. The kit includes everything needed for rerouting.

Q: Does this replace the 6000-125? A: Yes. The 6000-125RK is the current replacement kit version. It replaces the older 6000-125 (Laing E10) and 6500-035 (Laing SM-909), plus all SM-909/SM-959/SM-1212 variants.

Q: What about the 6000-125NA? A: The 6000-125NA is a related pump-only version (no retrofit kit). The 6000-125RK includes the pump PLUS all adapters, clamps, hose, and wire for a complete field replacement.

Q: My spa shows FLO error. Is this the fix? A: A failed circulation pump is the most common cause of FLO/FL errors when filters are clean. The Grundfos replacement is specifically designed to be less prone to the overheating issues that caused flow errors in older Laing pumps.

Q: Is the wet end rotatable? A: Yes. Remove the four screws behind the front volute to reposition the wet end to 12:00, 3:00, 6:00, or 9:00 positions.

Q: What’s the difference between 6000-125RK and 6000-314? A: Voltage. The 6000-125RK is for dedicated 230V spas. The 6000-314 is for 115V / convertible spas. Same Grundfos pump platform, different motor winding. They are NOT interchangeable.
