⚡ LX Lingxiao 56WUA 4.0 HP Spa Pump (56WUA400-I NF) — Single-Speed 230V 56 Frame Bracketless Jet Pump

High-Power 56-Frame Bracketless Replacement for Sundance 6500-352 — Quiet, Reliable Jet Performance for 2009+ Sundance & Jacuzzi Spas

🔄 Product Overview

The LX 56WUA400-I(NF) is a 4.0 HP single-speed bracketless jet pump manufactured by Guangdong Lingxiao Pump Industry Co., Ltd. (LX). Built around the larger 56-frame thru-bolt motor, this pump delivers significantly more power and quieter operation than its 48-frame counterparts. The “NF” (No Feet) designation means this pump ships without a built-in mounting base, requiring the Sundance/Jacuzzi 56-frame pump bracket (part 6000-535, sold separately) for installation.

Operating exclusively on 230V/60Hz and drawing 12.0 amps, this WUA series pump is a direct replacement for the Sundance/Jacuzzi OEM part number 6500-352 (also referenced as 6500-352S) and its related part numbers 6500-363 and 6500-365. The 56-frame pump platform was introduced by Sundance/Jacuzzi starting in 2008–2010 to replace the earlier 48-frame pumps in their 680/780 Series, J-LX, J-LXL, and J-400 Series spas, providing improved motor cooling, reduced noise, and increased longevity.

Both suction and discharge ports are 2″ Male Buttress Thread (MBT), with center suction and side discharge configuration. The volute can be rotated in 90-degree increments to match any existing plumbing layout. The motor features pure copper windings, Texas Instruments thermal protector, anti-creep bearings, and a Viton/Silicon Carbide/Graphite mechanical seal for durable, leak-free operation. Two 2″ pump unions are included.

Discharge Rotation

The volute can be rotated in 90-degree increments to position the discharge at 12, 3, 6, or 9 o’clock. The pump ships in a specific wet-end orientation — to rotate, loosen the thru-bolts, reposition the wet end, and retighten evenly.

Installation Notes

⚠️ This is a 230V-only pump. Double-check your spa’s voltage before connecting.

⚠️ This pump requires the 56-frame bracket 6000-535 (NOT the 48-frame bracket 6000-532). The bracket must be installed before mounting the pump.

⚠️ Pump must be installed below water level (flooded suction) for proper operation.

⚠️ Never run the pump dry — this causes immediate seal damage and voids the warranty.

⚠️ Ensure proper grounding and bonding per NEC requirements.

⚠️ GFCI protection is required by code for all hot tub and spa installations.

⚠️ Power cord is NOT included — reuse your existing pump cord or purchase a compatible replacement. For AMP-style connectors, see cord 30-0324-48.

⚠️ Union O-rings (6000-645) are NOT included and should be purchased separately if your existing O-rings are worn.

⚠️ If replacing a 6500-901, 6500-902, or 6500-903 fixed-mount pump, some modification may be required for retrofit. Consult Parts4Tubs or a qualified technician.

⚠️ Verify your plumbing is 2″ (approximately 3″ across union threads). If your spa uses 2-1/2″ plumbing (approximately 3-5/8″ across threads), this pump will NOT connect directly — see the LX 56WUA400A series with 2-1/2″ adapters instead.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What horsepower is this pump? A: LX rates this pump at 4.0 HP (brake-torque-horsepower). The equivalent Sundance/Jacuzzi OEM pump (6500-352) is rated at 2.5 HP continuous. These are different rating methods — the amperage draw (12.0A at 230V) is identical between both. When comparing replacement pumps, match by amperage rather than stated horsepower.

Q: What does “NF” or “Bracketless” mean? A: “NF” stands for “No Feet.” This pump ships without a built-in mounting base or feet. It requires a separate 56-frame pump bracket (Sundance/Jacuzzi part 6000-535, sold separately). If you need a pump with built-in feet for direct mounting, order the 56WUA400-I (without “NF”) instead.

Q: What is the difference between the 56-frame bracket (6000-535) and the 48-frame bracket (6000-532)? A: The 6000-535 bracket is specifically designed for the larger 56-frame motors used in this pump. The 6000-532 bracket is for the smaller 48-frame motors. They are NOT interchangeable. Always match the bracket to your pump’s frame size.

Q: Is this a 115V or 230V pump? A: This pump operates exclusively on 230V / 60Hz. It is NOT convertible to 115V.

Q: Will this fit my Sundance or Jacuzzi hot tub? A: This pump replaces the Sundance/Jacuzzi OEM part number 6500-352 (and 6500-363, 6500-365), used in 2008/2009+ models including Altamar, Cameo, Capri, Chelsee, Constance, Hamilton, Hartford, Hawthorne, Majesta, Marin, Maxxus, Optima, Victoria, and Jacuzzi J-400 Series, J-LX, J-LXL, J-375, J-365, J-355, J-280, and J-270. Verify your existing pump is a 56-frame model before ordering.

Q: How do I know if my spa has a 48-frame or 56-frame pump? A: The most reliable method is to check the label on your existing pump. The 56-frame motor is physically larger in diameter than the 48-frame motor. Sundance spas built before 2008 typically use 48-frame pumps; 2008/2009+ models typically use 56-frame pumps. You can also check the pump’s part number — 6500-341 (1-speed) and 6500-343 (2-speed) are 48-frame; 6500-352 (1-speed) and 6500-367 (2-speed) are 56-frame.

Q: Can this replace a 6500-901, 6500-902, or 6500-903 pump? A: The 6500-352 (and this LX replacement) can take the place of 6500-901, 6500-902, and 6500-903 pumps when used with the 6000-535 bracket. However, some modification may be needed for retrofit. Multiple retailers recommend using the original OEM pumps for these specific part numbers when possible. Contact Parts4Tubs for guidance.

Q: Does this replace the Aqua-Flo XP2e or Waterway Executive? A: Yes — this LX pump replaces Aqua-Flo Flo-Master XP2e 4.0 HP 230V 56-frame 1-speed pumps with 2″ plumbing, and Waterway Executive 56-frame 4HP 1-speed 230V pumps (3711621-1D). Some plumbing modifications may be necessary due to slightly different thread positions compared to Waterway Executive models.

Q: What size are the ports? A: Both suction and discharge use 2″ Male Buttress Thread (MBT), measuring approximately 3″ across the outside of the threads. The suction is on the center front face, and the discharge is on the side. If your spa has 2-1/2″ plumbing (~3-5/8″ across threads), this pump will NOT fit directly — see the LX 56WUA400A series with 2-1/2″ adapters.

Q: What is the difference between 56WUA400-I and 56WUA400-I(NF)? A: Both have identical pump performance — 4.0 HP, 230V, 12.0A, 1-speed, 56 frame, 2″ MBT. The 56WUA400-I includes a built-in mounting base/feet. The 56WUA400-I(NF) is bracketless (no feet) and requires the 56-frame bracket 6000-535 for mounting.

Q: What is the difference between this pump (1-speed) and the 56WUA400-II(NF) (2-speed)? A: The 56WUA400-I(NF) is single-speed (12.0A). The 56WUA400-II(NF) is dual-speed (12.0A high / 4.4A low). Choose based on whether you need a 1-speed or 2-speed replacement. The 2-speed version can also be wired for single-speed operation if needed.

Q: Does a power cord come with this pump? A: No — the power cord is sold separately. Reuse your existing pump cord if compatible, or purchase a replacement AMP-style cord (such as 30-0324-48).

Q: Does this include pump unions? A: Yes — two 2″ pump unions are included. However, union O-rings (6000-645) are NOT included and should be purchased separately if your existing O-rings are worn.

Q: Can I rotate the discharge direction? A: Yes. The volute can be rotated in 90-degree increments (12, 3, 6, or 9 o’clock positions). Loosen the thru-bolts, rotate the wet end to the desired position, and retighten evenly.

Q: What warranty is included? A: This pump includes a 1-year manufacturer warranty (repair or replace — does not include shipping costs). The motor serial number label (located on the exterior of the motor housing) is required for all warranty claims. Keep this information in a safe place after installation.

Q: Do I need a GFCI breaker? A: Yes, GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) protection is required by the National Electrical Code (NEC) for all hot tub and spa installations.

How do I Replace a Hot Tub Pump?

Here's a general step-by-step guide on how to replace a hot tub pump. Keep in mind that the specific steps may vary depending on your hot tub's make and model, so it's essential to consult your hot tub's manual for model-specific instructions. If you're not comfortable with this procedure, it's a good idea to seek professional assistance.

Materials You'll Need:

• Replacement pump
• Screwdriver
• New union O-rings
• A strap wrench, only if a union nut is stuck
• PVC primer and cement, only if you are gluing in new tailpieces

Procedure:

1. Turn Off the Power: Before you begin, ensure the hot tub's power supply is turned off at the circuit breaker or disconnect switch. Safety should always be a priority when working with electrical components.

2. Drain the Hot Tub: If your hot tub is not already empty, you'll need to drain it. Follow your hot tub's manual or manufacturer's instructions for proper draining. (You might not need to do this if you can lock the pump off with the gate valves)

3. Locate the Pump: Identify the location of the existing pump in your hot tub. It's usually located near the equipment area or in a designated pump compartment.

4. Disconnect the Electrical Wiring: Carefully disconnect the electrical wiring from the old pump. This typically involves removing the electrical conduit cover, unscrewing wire nuts, and disconnecting the wires from the terminals. Be sure to note the wire connections or take a picture for reference when connecting the new pump.

5. Disconnect the Plumbing: Depending on your hot tub's plumbing setup, you'll need to disconnect the plumbing connections to the pump. Unscrew the union nuts by hand. If one is stuck, use a strap wrench rather than a pipe wrench, which can crack the nut. Be prepared for some water spillage when disconnecting the plumbing.

6. Remove the Old Pump: Once the electrical and plumbing connections are detached, carefully remove the old pump from its mounting position. Some pumps may be secured with mounting brackets or bolts.

7. Prepare the New Pump: If the new pump is not pre-assembled, you may need to attach fittings, unions, or adapters to match your hot tub's plumbing. Pump unions use buttress threads that seal on an O-ring, so fit new O-rings and hand-tighten the nuts. Do not use thread tape, pipe dope or sealant on them.

8. Mount the New Pump: Position the new pump in the same location as the old one and secure it in place using the mounting brackets or bolts.

9. Reconnect Plumbing: Reconnect the plumbing to the new pump, hand-tightening the union nuts. If you are gluing in new PVC tailpieces, use PVC primer and cement on those joints.

10. Reconnect Electrical Wiring: Reconnect the electrical wiring to the new pump, following the notes or pictures you took earlier. Make sure all wires are properly connected and secure.

11. Turn On the Power: Restore power to the hot tub by switching on the circuit breaker or reconnecting the disconnect switch.

12. Test the Pump: Turn on the hot tub's pump to ensure that it's working correctly. Check for any signs of leaks or irregularities in the plumbing connections.

13. Refill the Hot Tub: Once you've confirmed that the new pump is functioning properly, refill the hot tub with water.

14. Check for Leaks: Inspect the plumbing connections for any leaks. If you find any, turn off the pump, drain the tub again, and reseal the connections as needed.

15. Monitor: Keep an eye on the pump and plumbing for the next few days to ensure everything is functioning correctly and that there are no further issues.

Remember that this is a general guideline, and the specific steps may vary based on your hot tub's design. If you're unsure or uncomfortable with any aspect of this process, please do get in touch, happy to help.

How do I know what size hot tub pump I have?

Determining the size of your hot tub pump is an important step when it comes to maintenance or replacement. To find out the size of your hot tub pump, follow these steps:

1. Check the Manual: The easiest way to determine the size of your hot tub pump is to consult the owner's manual or user documentation that came with your hot tub. The manual typically contains detailed information about the specifications and components of your hot tub, including the pump.

2. Look at the Pump Housing: If you don't have access to the manual or it doesn't provide the information you need, inspect the pump itself. Most hot tub pumps have a label or plate on the pump housing that displays essential details, including the pump's model number, manufacturer, and specifications. You can then send that to me or Google it.

3. Measure the Pump: If the label is missing or damaged, you can measure the pump's dimensions. Measure the diameter of the pump's wet end (the part where the water flows) and the length of the wet end. These measurements can help identify the size and capacity of the pump.

4. Consult the Manufacturer: If you can't find the information on the pump or in the manual, contact the hot tub manufacturer or a reputable dealer. Provide them with your hot tub's model and serial number, and they should be able to identify the correct pump size for your specific hot tub.

5. Online Research: You can also search online using the pump's model number or hot tub's make and model. Many manufacturers provide detailed information about their products on their websites, and you may find specifications for your pump model.

Once you have determined the size and specifications of your hot tub pump, you can proceed with maintenance, repairs, or replacement if necessary. Keep in mind that replacing a hot tub pump with the same size and capacity as the original is crucial to ensure proper water circulation and filtration in your hot tub. If you're unsure about any aspect of this process, get in touch, always happy to help.
