⚡ Electrical Requirements

⚠️ IMPORTANT ELECTRICAL SAFETY INFORMATION:

• Hot tubs and spas require GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) protection as mandated by the NEC.
• A dedicated circuit is required — do not share the circuit with other appliances.
• Verify that your existing electrical supply matches the pump’s voltage requirement (110-120V / 60Hz) before installation.
• Ensure proper grounding and bonding per NEC requirements.

🔄 Compatibility Guide

This Pump:

📍 Frame Size: 80 (LX proprietary) 📍 Suction: 1-1/2″ MBT (Center) 📍 Discharge: 1-1/2″ MBT (Center) 📍 Union O.D.: 2-3/8″ 📍 Voltage: 110-120V / 60Hz

OEM Application:

• Platinum Spas (by Superior Wellness) — original factory circulation pump

Also Used In:

• Various whirlpool bath models from multiple manufacturers (verify part number and specifications before ordering)

🛠️ Installation Requirements

Mounting:

Requirement	Specification
Mounting Position	Horizontal (standard)
Base	Solid, level, vibration-dampening surface
Ventilation	Ensure adequate airflow around the motor for cooling
Access	Allow sufficient clearance for maintenance and union access

Plumbing:

Connection	Size
Suction	1-1/2″ MBT
Discharge	1-1/2″ MBT
Union O.D.	2-3/8″

Installation Notes:

⚠️ Pump must be installed below water level (flooded suction) to ensure proper priming.

⚠️ Never run the pump dry — dry operation causes rapid seal and impeller damage.

⚠️ Ensure proper grounding and bonding per NEC requirements.

⚠️ GFCI protection is required by code for all hot tub and spa installations.

⚠️ The wet end can be rotated to match your existing plumbing orientation — loosen the volute bolts, rotate to the desired position, and re-tighten.

⚠️ Air Switch Note: This pump includes a built-in air switch. If your spa does not use the air switch and the pump does not start when energized, activate the air switch once to set it to the closed (on) position. After that, the pump will operate normally from your spa control system.

⚠️ The barb fittings can be drilled out if your application requires a different connection method.

🔧 Maintenance Guide

Routine Maintenance:

Task	Frequency	Notes
Check for leaks	Monthly	Inspect around the shaft seal area and union connections
Inspect union connections	Monthly	Tighten union nuts if any signs of dripping
Clean strainer/filter basket	As needed	Remove debris to maintain proper flow
Check motor amperage	Annually	Should read approximately 4.0A under load
Inspect motor ventilation	Quarterly	Keep motor vents clear of dust, debris, and insulation
Check mounting hardware	Quarterly	Tighten if vibration has loosened bolts

Warning Signs — Replace Pump If:

• Unusual noise such as grinding, screeching, or rattling
• Water leaking from the shaft seal area
• Motor trips the circuit breaker repeatedly
• Noticeably reduced water flow through the circulation system
• Motor overheating or shutting down on thermal protection frequently
• Visible corrosion or cracking on the volute or wet end

Seal Replacement:

📍 If the pump is leaking from the shaft seal area, the mechanical seal may need replacement. Contact Parts4Tubs for the correct replacement seal for the LX WCA50.

⚠️ Replace the seal at the first sign of leakage to prevent motor damage from water intrusion.

🛁 Ideal Applications

Application	Suitability	Notes
♨️ Spa/Hot Tub Circulation	✅ Yes	Primary application — designed for continuous 24/7 filtration circulation
🛁 Whirlpool Bath	✅ Yes	Widely used in whirlpool bath models from various manufacturers
♨️ Hot Tub Jet Pump	❌ No	This is a circulation pump, not a high-powered jet pump

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What horsepower is this pump? A: The LX WCA50 has an input power rating (P1) of 0.5 HP (0.37 kW) and an output power rating (P2) of 0.33 HP (0.25 kW), as confirmed by the LX manufacturer specification sheet.

Q: Will this fit my hot tub? A: This pump was originally designed for Platinum Spas (Superior Wellness). To determine compatibility with your spa, check your existing pump’s port sizes (should be 1-1/2″ MBT), union outside diameter (should be 2-3/8″), voltage (should be 110-120V), and discharge configuration (center discharge). Contact Parts4Tubs if you need assistance verifying fitment.

Q: What voltage does this pump require? A: 110-120V / 60Hz. This is the standard US household voltage. All electrical installation must be performed by a licensed electrician.

Q: Is this a single or dual speed pump? A: This is a single-speed pump designed for continuous 24/7 circulation duty.
