🧂 Pentair IntelliChlor LT15 Salt Cell & Power Center Bundle – Salt Chlorine Generator for Pools Up to 15,000 Gallons

Effortless salt chlorination for crystal-clear, gentle pool water

📋 Product Overview

The Pentair IntelliChlor LT15 Salt Cell & Power Center Bundle is a complete salt chlorine generation system designed for pools up to 15,000 gallons. Using the process of electrolysis, it converts ordinary dissolved salt into the chlorine your pool needs — automatically and continuously — eliminating the need to buy, handle, and store traditional chlorine.

Part of Pentair’s new IntelliChlor Plus & LT family, the LT15 features an improved modular design that delivers more serviceability, accuracy, and value than Pentair’s first-generation IntelliChlor and iChlor salt chlorine generators. It is a drop-in replacement for existing Pentair salt chlorine generators, requiring no additional plumbing, and works with existing Pentair automation systems.

This bundle includes both the LT15 salt cell and the power pack, giving you everything needed for a complete installation. An easy-to-read LCD/LED interface with over 20 built-in diagnostics and warnings makes monitoring and servicing simple, while the redesigned conductivity sensor delivers salt level readings that are 98% as accurate as a laboratory-grade salinity meter.

🔌 Installation Requirements

Pre-Installation Checklist:

• Licensed electrician engaged for the electrical connection
• Power source confirmed: LT15 Power Pack (523753) or PC100 Power Center only
• System wired so the cell only receives power when the filter pump is running
• Pool filled for at least one month with salinity stable at 3,600 ppm
• Local permits obtained where required

Installation Position:

• The cell can be installed vertically or horizontally
• Install the cell a minimum of 3 feet (0.9 m) from the heater outlet
• The unit retrofits existing IntelliChlor or iChlor plumbing with no plumbing changes

Electrical Safety:

• ⚠️ Before installation or service, disconnect all power to the circuit at the breaker – risk of electric shock, which can result in serious injury or death
• ⚠️ All electrical work must comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC/NFPA 70) and applicable state and local codes
• ⚠️ Pool equipment electrical installations are subject to NEC Article 680 requirements – consult your licensed electrician
• ⚠️ Electrical permits may be required in your jurisdiction – check with your local building authority
• ⚠️ Refer to the manufacturer’s Installation and Maintenance Guide for full wiring instructions

🧽 Maintenance & Cell Care

• Routine Cleaning: Each unit ships with an acid washing kit. The system alerts you when cleaning is needed with a “SYS OFF CHK CELL” warning message. Always follow the manufacturer’s acid cleaning instructions – improper cleaning can shorten cell life.
• Automatic Scale Control: Built-in polarity reversal every 3 hours minimizes calcium and scale buildup. Note that water hardness varies by water source and affects scale buildup.
• Blade Wear: If the “Check Cell” warning remains after a proper acid clean, the cell blades have worn out and the cell assembly should be replaced.
• Sensor Module: The three-in-one sensor module (conductivity, temperature, flow) is user-replaceable; the system displays “SYS OFF SENS ERR” when replacement is needed.
• Winterization: Pentair offers a spacer cell (part 523102 for the LT15) to install in place of the generator during winter months.

🔍 Troubleshooting & Warning Messages

Warning Message	Meaning
ADD SALT	Salt level has fallen below 3,000 ppm – add salt
SYS OFF LOW SALT	Salt below 2,600 ppm – unit has shut off until salt is restored
LOW TEMP	Water temperature has fallen below 60°F (15°C)
SYS OFF LOW TEMP	Water at or below 52°F (11°C) – unit has shut off to protect itself
SYS OFF CHK CELL	Cell requires inspection/acid cleaning; if the warning persists after cleaning, the blades are worn and the cell needs replacement
SYS OFF SENS ERR	Sensor module requires replacement

Low or no chlorine production? Per Pentair, common causes include: output setting too low, insufficient run time, rain or high bather load, high nitrate/phosphate/metal levels, dirty or scaled cell blades, or incorrect cyanuric acid level. Refer to the Installation and Maintenance Guide, or contact Parts4Tubs for troubleshooting assistance.

📌 Tip: The voltage and amperage readings on the display only show values while the unit is actively chlorinating – zeros do not necessarily indicate a fault.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What size pool is this unit rated for? A: The IntelliChlor LT15 is rated for pools up to 15,000 gallons, producing up to 0.65 lbs of chlorine per 24 hours at 100% output. For larger pools, contact Parts4Tubs about the LT25 and Plus models.

Q: Can this replace my old Pentair salt cell? A: Yes – the LT15 is a direct replacement for the iChlor 15 and the first-generation IntelliChlor IC15, retrofitting existing plumbing with no changes. Per Pentair, no new electrical work is needed to transition from a legacy unit. Contact Parts4Tubs with your current model if you’d like confirmation.

Q: Can I use my existing power pack with the new LT15 cell? A: No. The LT15 must only be connected to the LT15 Power Pack (523753) or the PC100 Power Center. Using an older IntelliChlor or iChlor power pack will permanently damage the unit. This bundle includes the correct power pack.

Q: How much salt does my pool need? A: The ideal salt level is 3,600 ppm. The unit warns you below 3,000 ppm and shuts off below 2,600 ppm. Pentair’s free Salinity Calculator at www.pentair.com will tell you exactly how much salt to add for your pool size.

Q: Will it work with my Pentair automation system? A: Yes – it connects with IntelliCenter, IntelliConnect, and IntellipH, and also works with legacy IntelliSync, SunTouch, EasyTouch, and IntelliTouch systems. Note that when connected to automation, output is adjusted through the automation system rather than the unit’s keypad.

Q: Does it work in cold water? A: The unit requires water above 52°F (11°C). It displays a low-temperature warning below 60°F and automatically shuts off at 52°F to protect itself. For winter, Pentair offers a spacer cell (523102) to install in place of the generator.

Q: Do I need an electrician to install this? A: The electrical connection of the power pack must be performed by a licensed electrician in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local codes. Permits may be required in your area. No plumbing changes are needed if you’re replacing an existing IntelliChlor or iChlor unit.

Q: What warranty is included? A: Pentair’s stated warranty for IntelliChlor LT generators purchased as TradeGrade products is two years or 6,000 hours, whichever comes first. Warranty terms can vary by purchase channel and installation requirements – refer to www.pentair.com/warranty for full details, or contact Parts4Tubs before ordering.
