💡 Balboa BP100G1 Spa Circuit Board – 1-Pump Mini+ Control (P/N 59187 Series)

Precision-engineered Balboa replacement PCB that keeps your 1-pump hot tub running exactly the way it was designed to.

🔌 Product Overview

The Balboa BP100G1 is the main circuit board for Balboa’s BP100 Mini+ spa control platform — the compact 1-pump controller Balboa builds for smaller portable hot tubs, rotomolded spas, and single-pump upgrade installations. This board is the OEM replacement for factory part numbers 59187-02, 59187-03, 59188-03, and 59251-03, and is the current-production PCB used inside BP100 Integral-Heater and Remote-Heater systems.

In a single compact footprint, the BP100G1 drives one 2-speed jet pump (or a 1-speed pump plus a dedicated circulation pump), an ozonator, a 10 VAC spa light, a 240 VAC AV circuit, and either a 4.0 kW or 5.5 kW integral heater — or a remote heater sold separately. It auto-detects 50 Hz vs 60 Hz, is wired for 240 VAC / 48 A service by default with optional 120 VAC / 16 A configuration, and supports Balboa’s full topside lineup: spaTouch™ Mini, spaTouch™2, spaTouch™3, TP700/TP740, TP600, TP500, TP400, and TP200.

Installing the genuine Balboa board restores normal pump, heater, filter, and light operation and reinstates Balboa’s M7 dual-sensor heater safety system and the full BP100 diagnostic fault history. Circuit boards are non-returnable, so please verify fit before ordering.

Installing in the wrong mode can damage the heater, pump, or board.

🔗 Compatibility Guide

Compatible Spa Applications

This BP100 platform is used as the factory controller or as a drop-in / universal replacement in a broad range of smaller, 1-pump spas where equipment bay space is limited. Typical applications include portable, rotomolded, and entry-level hot tubs such as:

Application Category	Notes
Portable and rotomolded 1-pump hot tubs	Plug-and-play or hardwired
Single-pump premium spas with a dedicated circulation pump	Use Setup 1
2-speed single-pump spas without a circulation pump	Use Setup 2 (default)
Circ-only spas with no jet pump	Use Setup 3

⚠️ This is a single-pump-base controller. If your spa uses a second jet pump, you also need the Balboa BP100 Expander / Daughter Board (G1940, P/N 59232) which adds one additional 1-speed pump relay at 12 A max. If your spa requires more than one additional pump, this is not the correct platform — contact Parts4Tubs for a BP501 or BP2000 series recommendation.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I know if the BP100G1 is the right board for my spa? A: Open your spa’s equipment bay and read the label on the existing Balboa control box. If the label reads BP1-BP100G1-BU, BP1-BP100G1-BS, BP1-BP100G1-B, or the board itself is marked 59187-xx, 59188-xx, or 59251-xx, this is the correct replacement.

Q: Is this an OEM board? A: Yes. This is the genuine Balboa Water Group BP100G1 main PCB (replacement P/N 59494-01) as built per Balboa Tech Sheet 59187-03_59188-03_59251-03_B.

Q: What’s the difference between the 5.5 kW, 4.0 kW, and Remote Heater versions? A: The main PCB is the same across all three. The 5.5 kW (59187-03) and 4.0 kW (59188-03) versions ship with an integral heater (heater mounted on the board assembly). The Remote Heater version (59251-03) is sold without a heater — the heater is purchased separately and mounted remotely in the spa plumbing.

Q: Does this board support 120V, 240V, or both? A: Both, but the system ships factory-wired for 240 VAC / 48 A. Converting to 120 VAC requires moving J46 and J38 wires, repositioning J24 jumpers, moving J31 to a single pin, and setting DIP A2 and A3 to OFF. In 120 VAC mode, Pump 1, Circ, Ozone, and AV must all be 120 V — and Clim8zone™ is not supported.

Q: What Setup does the new board ship in? A: Setup 2 (2-speed Pump 1, no circulation pump). If your spa requires Setup 1 or Setup 3, you’ll need to change it via the Test Menu (DIP A1 ON → navigate to SETP screen on your panel → select new Setup → return A1 to OFF).

Q: Do I need a licensed electrician to install this? A: Yes. NEC Article 680, most local codes, and the Balboa Tech Sheet itself all require installation by qualified personnel. Incorrect voltage jumpers or DIP switches can damage the equipment; incorrect wiring can injure the installer or user.

Q: Which topside panel do I need? A: Any current Balboa topside will work — spaTouch™ Mini, spaTouch™2, spaTouch™3, TP700, TP740, TP600, TP500, TP400T/W, or TP200T/W. Check panel firmware version for advanced features (CHROMAZON3™ needs spaTouch™2 v2.19+; Clim8zone™ needs specific minimum versions per panel). TP700/740 and TP600 are not officially supported in Setup 3.

Q: Can I add a second jet pump? A: Yes — with the Balboa BP100 Expander / Daughter Board (G1940, P/N 59232). This adds one additional 1-speed pump relay at 12 A max.

Q: Does it support Bluetooth audio? A: Yes. bba™2 / bba™3 (Balboa Bluetooth Amp) is integrated with TP700/740 and spaTouch™ graphic panels; on TP200/400/500/600, use the “BT” menu entry to toggle bba™ power.

Q: Can I return it if it doesn’t fix my problem? A: ⚠️ No. Circuit boards are non-returnable once installed or powered on, per Balboa and industry standard policy. Electrical or physical damage from incorrect PCB selection voids the manufacturer’s warranty. Please verify compatibility carefully before purchase.

Q: What fuses are on the board? A: F6 — 30 A 250 VAC (P/N 30136); F4 & F5 — 1 A slo-blow (P/N 26983); F3 — 0.16 A slo-blow (P/N 26982). The 59187-03 revision upgraded the F3 fuse value and changed the heater from 800 Incoloy to 825 Incoloy.
